With statutory responsibility to initiate and conduct programs suggested by the commissioners court and the Texas Historical Commission (THC), the county historical commission (CHC) is a vital link in Texas' preservation network. The future of historic preservation in Texas depends on informed and focused local preservationists. To that end, the THC conducts programs and offers guidance on CHC organizational structure and activities that will enhance the preservation of Texas' rich heritage in each of our 254 counties.
